established in the early 2000s, itto is a family run asian fusion restaurant built on bold, comforting flavours, with a strong focus on japanese and chinese cooking.
what began in stoke newington has grown into a second home in finsbury park, while keeping the same warmth, care and sense of community that shaped us from the start.
founded by a chinese couple from fuzhou in eastern china, itto was created through collaboration and shared passion. working closely with chefs from across east and south east asia, they developed a menu that honours tradition while embracing creativity, balancing well loved classics with thoughtful modern touches.
more than twenty-five years on, we are still family run, still hands on, and still guided by the belief that good food brings people together

at itto, what you eat from matters just as much as what you eat.
every plate, bowl and cup you see in our restaurants is sourced directly from japan and brought into the uk through a small, family run company based in kent. they have spent years building close relationships with makers across japan, working with trusted kilns and artisan producers to ensure every piece is authentic and true to its craft.
we do not order from mass catalogues or buy in large generic batches. each collection is carefully chosen in small quantities, with attention to texture, glaze, weight and how it complements the food. the feel of the ceramic in your hands, the way it frames a dish, the subtle irregularities that make it unique, these details matter to us.
our selection changes with the seasons. lighter finishes and softer tones appear during warmer months, while richer glazes and deeper textures come through as the year turns. because many of these pieces are produced in limited runs by independent makers, stock is naturally limited. when something sells out, it may not come back in exactly the same way. that is part of what makes it special.
alongside using these ceramics in our restaurants, we also make selected pieces available to purchase. many guests ask about the plates and bowls they dine from, so we offer the chance to take a little part of that experience home. whether it is a favourite ramen bowl or a textured side plate, each piece carries the same care and authenticity you see on our tables.
next time you visit, take a moment to notice the plate in front of you. it has travelled a long way, and it carries a story of its own.
